Unable To Add Active Directory Groups To BPM Space For Sharing

Symptoms

Login in to Composer using an Active Directory user, create a Space, and share it with a Group from Active Directory, the following error is seen in the browser:

"Error 500 Oops, an error has occurred. If the problem persists please contact your administrator."

The error stack below is seen in the BPM server logs:

BPM-0:Principal user 'xxxxxxxxxxx' not found.
Cause: The username specified was deleted or can't be found. Action: Contact with an Administrator
at oracle.bpm.bac.security.model.IGFPrincipalService.buildPrincipal(IGFPrincipalService.java:153)
at oracle.bpm.bac.security.model.IGFPrincipalService.searchUsersFromGroup(IGFPrincipalService.java:191)
