Rest Controller as an EndPoint (controller_as_rest_endpoint) Not Working with Session State Not Defined (Doc ID 2235372.1)

Goal

When trying to create a Rest Controller as an EndPoint to help to track users favorites on the application using POST, how is it possible to avoid the error saying session state not defined?

Sample code - Using the Developer's Sample Site http://hostname:port/sites/samples/controller_as_rest_endpoint
