Creating a New Object in ODI Studio 12.2.1.2.6 Results in Hang/Lockup

Symptoms
When attempting to create a new object in Oracle Data Integrator 12.2.1.2.6 Studio, Studio will appear to hang/lock up for a period of time, and possibly require the user to go to the task manager to 'End Task' the application. The period of time is related to the size of the repository, with larger repositories tending to suffer from a longer time period.
The issue can be reproduced at will by right-clicking on object nodes in the Designer tab and selecting "New object."
