Symptoms
WebLogic Admin Server hangs when attempting to start up. In this scenario, Weblogic is installed and a domain created consisting of an AdminServer on one machine and a Managed Server configured with Nodemanager on another machine. The concern is, if the remote machine is down or the WebLogic configured machine's nodemanager host is incorrect, it causes an issue with the Admin Server startup. The net effect is a large time latency when attempting to start the server. The admin server hangs while trying to contact the host of the other machine which is currently down.
Taking a thread dump of the process while it is hanging shows the following:
