Weblogic Console Getting "Error 404--Not Found" when Hostname is the Word 'console' (Doc ID 2244559.1)

Last updated on JUNE 30, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.2.1.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

DNS alias has been created and the ListenAddress of the AdminServer is set to "console.<domainname>". So the Weblogic console is accessible using http://console.<domainname>:7101/console.
But when navigating to the servers page in the domain structure, it gives the error:

404 Not Found
<<The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI.>>

When using the console with the IP address instead, everything is working fine. When test by adding DNS alias into /etc/hosts:

admincls.<domainname> dns-alias

and access the Weblogic console with http://admincls.<domainname>:7101/console, everything works fine.
