Why is The Active Session Count High For WebCenter Sites Even If The Environment Is Idle? (Doc ID 2248532.1)

Last updated on APRIL 03, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebCenter Sites - Version 12.2.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

There appears to be constant creation of Active Sessions in the Webcenter Sites application. Active sessions are continuously created for sites.war; this is happening even after the restart of the WebCenter Sites Managed Server. Upon checking the access log, it was found that the following URLs are constantly being accessed:

/sites/ContentServer?pagename=fatwire/abtest/refreshActiveABTests
/sites/ContentServer?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/Search/Event

When monitoring the WebLogic console for the active sessions for the sites.war deployment, this is seen happening even when no users are on the system.
