OUD11g - Server Locks / Freezes and Stops Responding While Importing Large LDIF Data File

Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) locked while importing data.
During the import of thousands of records (e.g., approximately 125k+ records) the OUD service stops and does not respond on its ports.
Testing a separate search while the problem is in progress shows OUD does not respond and it hangs, i.e., it freezes the entire server.
The problem happens consistently while executing the import of a file either into an ETL tool (e.g., Security Directory Integrator tool), or while running an LDIF with the ldapmodify command.
