During Sites Upgrade to 12c, What is a Good Approach to Upgrade Sites Database Schema in the Oracle Database 11g to 12c? (Doc ID 2250431.1)

Goal

In order for the Sites 11g to Sites 12c upgrade to work, both the 11g WCS schema and the new 12c schema need to reside withing the same DB. What is a good way to accomplish this?

For example,
1.  Should we copy the 11g schema into the 12c DB prior to the upgrade?

Or

2.  Should we do the upgrade in the 11g DB, and then migrate it to the 12c DB afterwords?
