Goal
Upgrade Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure to the 12.2.1.2
As the Upgrade Guide clearly states, "If you are upgrading from a previous 12c release (12.1.3.0, 12.2.1.0 or 12.2.1.1), then you must install the 12c (12.2.1.2) distributions into a new Oracle home. Do not attempt to reuse the existing Oracle home for this upgrade. Upgrading to 12c (12.2.1.2) is not a patch release."
Also from Oracle Fusion Middleware 12c Release 2 (12.2) Announcements (Doc ID 2067900.1)
“ This is a full installation with an out-of-place upgrade from previous releases. This does not update existing installations. “
So it is required to install the 12.2.1.2 in a new Oracle home.
However after completing the upgrade process successfully , is it required to maintain 2 Oracle Homes OR deinstall the older Oracle home (12.1.3.0, 12.2.1.0 or 12.2.1.1) and if so what is the procedure to do so?
