java.lang.NullPointerException while executing a xpath in a script task

after applying BP to BPM the following error appeared, causing the services to fail.

FaultId: 110002] [composite_name: JSONvsXML!2.0] [FlowId: 0000La8GvotBX7f_LXx0ie1OTChI000002] Cube engineUnhandled error. [[
Failure to handle an error returned by a field from all the blocks in the scope chain.
This exception occurred because the error returned in BPMN flow was not handled by any error handlers and reached the top level scope.
You need to add a stream higher level error handler to handle unrecognized errors from inside the stream.
