OdiInvokeWebService Fails With "java.net.SocketException: Unexpected end of file from server" Message In ODI 11g And 12c (Doc ID 2260907.1)

Symptoms

When trying to run the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) OdiInvokeWebService tool:

OdiInvokeWebService "-URL=https://sometingfake.nat.notreal.com:61678/PSIGW/PeopleSoftServiceListeningConnector/PERSON_BASIC_SYNC.1.wsdl" ...

... the following error is received, no matter the type of Agent used for the execution (including Local / No Agent):

ODI-1226: Step OdiInvokeWebService 1 fails after 1 attempt(s).
ODI-1241: Oracle Data Integrator tool execution fails.
