JDBC Application Hangs When Runing Queries On Remote Tables via Dblinks (Doc ID 2264241.1)

Symptoms

When fetching rows using JDBC from table based on dblinks, the java process hangs forever with the driver 12.1.0.2.
 
When testing the same application with the JDBC driver 11.2.0.4.0, the following error is received:
