MFT Internal Storage Directory Is Not Consistent For All MFT Sources (Doc ID 2276044.1)

Last updated on MAY 15, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Managed File Transfer - Version 12.2.1.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
The MFT documentation says that:

Payload Storage Directory: The directory location where the MFT payloads are stored. This has to be a shared location.
The default Payload Storage Directory is WLS_Home/user_projects/domains/base_domain/mft/storage. You must set it to a shared location if multiple Oracle WebLogic Server instances run in a cluster.

The directory for payload storage for an MFT transfers with different types of MFT sources, most of which are FTP/SFTP embedded sources while others are of file type, was configured under "server properties --> Payload Storage Directory"

As per understanding and irrespective of MFT source, all the payloads would be using the internal storage as provided in the Payload Storage Directory. However at runtime it shows a different behavior. For instances where MFT source is File the correct directory is used but for transfers with MFT source as FTP/SFTP embedded the internal storage is different and the root directory of embedded server is used for storing payloads.

Goal

The payload storage source directory should remain the same across all MFT source types.
