CS-URI Field is Truncated in HTTP Access Log If Application URL Is Greater Than 320 Characters (Doc ID 2283583.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 16, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.1.3.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Extended Logging has been configured as per:

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/web.1211/e24432/web_server.htm#CNFGD207 (Setting Up HTTP Access Logs by Using Extended Log Format)

Using cs-uri-stem and cs-uri-query, the string is almost always truncated somewhere around 300 characters. The length of the logged cs-uri-query (and cs-uri) when it is not the full query that was sent in the request ranges in length from ~288 to ~312 characters in length.

The application running in this managed server is receiving the full request url

The cs-uri-query field is getting truncated in the HTTP access logs.  Same happens with cs-uri too.
