Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) 11g and Oracle Identity Governance (OIG) 12c: How to Hide or Change the Components or Available Action Options Related to Approval Tasks (Doc ID 2283996.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 30, 2023

Applies to:

Identity Manager - Version 11.1.2.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Some of the menu options from the Actions drop-down menu on the tasklist shown on the Pending Approvals or Inbox pages may not be relevant for your needs.  The same may be true of the Task Actions options in a Task.

A few of these options are driven by the actions which are available for the individual tasks and those options can be changed by changing some of the task settings. Others are driven by the Administrative options available in BPM Worklist (as part of the SOA installation which is used by OIM) - and those options cannot be changed.

One example of the Administration options is the "Create Sub Task" option.  There is no functionality which allows the "Create Sub Task" menu option to be removed. This is a known functional limitation of the product (for which there have already been Enhancement Requests logged).  However, if you require that this option is removed - you can work around this functional limitation by removing the Actions drop down button from the Pending Approvals page (which also removes it from the Inbox).  This work around will mean that tasks can no longer be approved or rejected from the tasklist - so users will have to open the task and use the action buttons on the task page itself to perform actions.

This document will provide the steps needed to change the options which are available to change and also provide the work around steps to remove the Actions drop down menu/button from the Pending Approvals (and Inbox) pages.
