How to Prevent JVM Getting Killed Prematurely by OS Signals (SIGTERM) During RHEL7.0 Reboot (Doc ID 2284441.1)

Last updated on MAY 05, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.2.1.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Goal is to understand if it is possible to configure a service in SYSTEMD (RHEL 7) that would allow to perform graceful shutdown of WebLogic processes i.e  Is there a way to stop the OS from killing the WebLogic server process?

SCENARIO
WLS 12.2.1.2 is running on RHEL 7.0 server and needs to be shut down and started during Linux boot up time. SYSTEMD service is being used in here.

However, the WebLogic processes run in different accounts. They are considered user processes. At system halt command, all user processes are terminated by OS. Although the Stop script configured in systemd service is being called, the script only finds that WebLogic is already down due to OS killing all user processes
