UserManagerException: Unable To Update User Proxy With Status In Progress (Doc ID 2285641.1)

Symptoms

User has a Proxy record which is 'In Progress' and OIM is not permitting the user to alter the End Date to a Prior Date(move from 31/8 to 29/8) for the proxy. Following exception is seen when trying to change the end date:
