Last updated on MARCH 18, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 12.2.1.2.0 and later
Oracle WebCenter Content - Version 12.2.1.4.0 to 12.2.1.4.0 [Release 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The installation program uses a temporary directory into which it extracts the files that are needed to install the software on the target system. During the installation process, this temporary directory must contain sufficient space to accommodate the compressed Java Run-time Environment (JRE) bundled with the installation program and an uncompressed copy of the JRE that is expanded into the temporary directory. The extracted files are deleted from the temporary directory after the installation process. The files in the temporary directory require approximately 2.5 times the space that is ultimately required for the installation.

By default, the installation program uses the following temporary directories:

In addition to space, if there is restriction set-up in environment that would prevent execution out of /tmp (noexec flag), it will lead to "Could not execute /tmp/OraInstall<date>_<time>/installxxxx.sh" during the Oracle Middleware installation.

This document describes the steps that are needed to change the temp directory location for a weblogic installation if there is any constraint on the default temp size.
