Is there a method using the WCP java APIs to retrieve members and their roles? 

The requirement is to retrieve the list of users (also in groups) with first/last name, email, roles.

E.g. portal members:
- user1 > RoleA
- user2 > RoleB
- groupA (with user1 and user3 in it) > RoleB

Requirement:
- user1 > Role A, RoleB
- user2 > Role B
- user3 > Role B
