Exalogic: Ksplice Uptrack Offline Update Support for Exalogic OL6 Physical Compute Nodes and OL6 Guest vServers
(Doc ID 2295341.1)
Last updated on NOVEMBER 14, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.2.170418 and laterLinux x86-64
Oracle Virtual Server(x86-64)
Purpose
Ksplice fixes for CVEs and critical kernel fixes are bundled into a single uptrack-updates RPM for a specific kernel. This RPM may be installed and/or updated to newer versions to update the effective kernel to be newer than the installed kernel incorporating security and critical fixes. Moreover, the installation and updates are performed without requiring a reboot and with no disruption to service.
There is only one RPM for a given kernel; that RPM is updated when new security fixes and/or critical kernel fixes are available.
When a newer version of the RPM is available, the installed uptrack-updates RPM may be updated to the newer version using standard procedures.
Offline uptrack updates are now supported on Exalogic for the following:
- Exalogic compute nodes running Oracle Linux 6 on bare metal (Physical configuration)
- Exalogic Guest vServers running Oracle Linux 6
