Goal

This article will describe the steps to upgrade ODSM 11g to OUDSM 12c using WLST.

OUD / ODSM 11g can be upgraded by using the -

Option a
. WLST script, which does not need a certified Oracle Database.

Note: Using the WLST script to upgrade ODSM 11g to OUDSM 12c is the Oracle preferred approach. If upgrading ODSM 11g to OUDSM 12c using WLST, the stored configurations will be copied from an 11g ODSM domain instance and added to a directory under the 12c OUDSM domain instance.

Option b. Reconfiguration Wizard, for which a certified Oracle Database is Mandatory.

To upgrade ODSM 11g to OUDSM 12c using the Reconfiguration Wizard (Option b above), follow this KM article -
OUD 12c: How to Upgrade ODSM 11g to OUDSM 12c Using the Reconfiguration Wizard - Not Via the WLST Script (Doc ID 2303860.1)

Note: OUDSM can be used to administer OUD Standalone and/or OUD Collocated Instances. Collocated OUD Instances are OUD instances installed within a WLS domain. OUDSM does not have to reside on the same host as the OUD Instances.
