Goal

This Knowledge Note will provide example steps to upgrade a WebCenter Content server 12c to the latest released version.

As of 11-2020 that is 12.2.1.4.

Note: The upgrade steps are for WCC Content Server, Content UI and Inbound Refinery domains.

If the domains have the other WebCenter managed servers, IPM or Capture, these upgrade steps are the same.

For non WebCenter applications on the same domain, such as Portal or SOA, check with their Support groups for the proper upgrade procedures.

In addition to installing the WCC media, the media for the other applications are also required to be installed as part of step C.

Note: Universal Records Management (URM) and Records Adapter is now available on the latest WCC 12C.

URM was not available in previous versions of 12c. However, starting with 12.2.1.3.0, URM has been rolled into Webcenter Content 12c and can now be enabled directly from WCC 12c managed server.

Please note this is different from 11G URM, where it was installed as its own separate managed server. This means you will not see URM as an install option(managed server) for new installations.

URM is now a records installation level (Universal) to be enabled in addition to the other record installation levels (Standalone, Adapter) from the "Configure Records" feature.

For details see Note: 2080085.1 Is URM/Physical Content Management and Records Adapter Available in WCC 12c?
