Oracle Golden Gate To Netezza Flat File Generation: TAB is Not being taken as TAB But As Characters

Symptoms

Customer generated the flat file from oracle database to be imported by netezza database. The delimiter value needs to be set as tab space, but when they gave

dsvwriter.dsv.fielddelim.chars=0X1e

it just considers as characters and not as tab space.
