ODI Import of Artifact Modified in Another Repository Fails with "ODI-23040" and "ODI-14206" (Doc ID 2314275.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 03, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 12.2.1.2.6 to 12.2.1.3.0 [Release 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When attempting to import a mapping into a work repository in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1.2.6 or 12.2.1.3.0 the following error occurs.

ODI-14206: Import failed due to unable to delete unneeded objects in target repository.

The issue only occurs for some artifacts and not all, and when using either Smart Import and Legacy import. The mapping in question was modified in a cloned repository.

The same issue may occur in a versioned trunk / branch ODI repository, ie integrated to Apache Subversion (SVN).

  1. Import a database clone of an ODI repository.
  2. Use ODI Studio and log into this cloned repository.
  3. Modify the mapping
  4. Export the mapping
  5. Import the mapping into the original repository.
    ==> observe the error
