Symptoms

While using Application Continuity feature with UCP pool to connect to a RAC instance, a sudden increase in connections to

the database is noticed after switching the service with -f option. Also, connections are opened and closed frequently. 

Data source configuration is: 

Initial pool size =0
Min pool size=1
Max pool size= 3.

However, the issue does not occur with following settings:
Initial pool size =3
Min pool size=5
Max pool size= 20

OR

Initial pool size =0
Min pool size=5
Max pool size= 20.
