Exception - Severe Loss Of Service For User - Edit Inbox Settings

When the user chooses the SORT BY option in the Edit Inbox settings and instead of using a column, chooses "----" as an option, the user gets the following exception:
Error showing tasklist. Possible reasons could be : 1. SOA server connection information is not available. 2. If it is run in federated mode, the default server may be down.
Logout and login again does not resolve the issue and the user can not use the inbox after that.
