Capital Sharp S is displayed as SS instead of the (new) Uppercase ß

(Doc ID 2320579.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 06, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Forms - Version and later
Java SE JDK and JRE - Version 6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The uppercase of ß, (Sharp S) is translated as 'SS'.

The problem also occurs with standalone Java, both Java 7 and Java 8 outside of Forms or other application.

The uppercase of ß (capital sharp S) needs to be translated to a single character ß, in order to be compliant with national law.
Recently, (June 2017), official German orthography states that upper S sharp must use a single character.
