Content Access (CA) Unable to see all Messages in a PST

On : Outside In Content Access SDK 8.5.3

There are PST files where Content Access (CA) will not identify all of the messages in the PST. For example: CA may only see 3041 messages in a given PST file. However, running the PST through MAPI yields 4316 messages.

No Errors relating to the miscount are reported in CA; it does not signal that there is a problem and that fewer messages are being reported.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1 - Use SCANPST.EXE (found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12) to verify the number of items in the PST.

2 - Then run Outside In (OIT) sample application Extract_archive to see how many items OIT detects.

3 - If these numbers do not match, apply the solution below.
