OmniPortlet Error DCA-40000 (Doc ID 2337670.1)

Symptoms

WebCenter Portal page rendering OmniPortlet shows this error:

'Error: DCA-40000: The Web Service call failed due to an internal error.'

The following instructions were followed:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Access Weblogic Server Admin Console.
2. Deploy web service application onto AdminServer.
3. Create new page e.g, 'TestOmniPortletPage'
4. Edit Portal -> Edit Page 'TestOmniPortletPage'.
5. 'Add Content', select 'UIComponent' > 'OmniPortlet' from resource catalog
6. Click drop down menu item 'Customize' to start the OmniPortlet wizard. Select option 'Web Service' next step, enter URL.
7. Click 'show method' and when populated select 'method1'. Click 'Next', keep the default options until 'Finish' the wizard and publish page 'TestOmniPortletPage'.
8. Message displays:

'Error: DCA-40000: The Web Service call failed due to an internal error.'

The WC_Portal-diagnostic.log does not show a related error.
