After upgrading from SOA/BAM/BPM 11g ( to SOA/BAM/BPM 12c (, the business indicator attribute with datatype as Integer is getting created as String (instead of Integer) in BAM data object.

Previously in 11g, the Integer data type column is created as Integer (or Number in BAM data object).
