Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) User Unable To Authenticate With Active Directory Account Through OVD Active Directory Reports “unknown user name or bad password” Error (Doc ID 2343749.1)

Symptoms

When users are being directed to Active Directory through OVD they are not authenticated.

ERROR
-----------------------
In the AD Windows Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Security , we are seeing an “unknown user name or bad password” error.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Setup the OVD adapter for Active Directory and can bind to AD successfully
2. When the users in AD are trying to access the via an OAM integrated application, they are not able to authenticate
3. In the Windows Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Security, the following error is seen “unknown user name or bad password” error

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
Due to this issue, AD users cannot login (bind request) to OAM integrated applications.
