Programmatically building a Coherence cache-config

Is it possible to programmatically build a cache-config file on the fly using a pattern similar to that defined in the following article: https://thegridman.com/coherence/coherence-12-1-2-you-dont-need-no-stinking-cache-config-xml/

If it is possible to programmatically build a CacheFactory, is there a way to “test” the code without having to used it to fetch a NamedCache? For instance, could we programmatically build the cache-config objects then use that to generate a real cache-config.xml file that could be validated against a schema.
