Special Non English Characters Are Not Displayed Running Forms 9i / 10g on a Unix (Doc ID 238162.1)

Symptoms

 
Special non-English characters are not displayed when running Forms 9i (9.0.2)
/ 10g (9.0.4) on a Unix platform.

The characters include :

- grave accents ( à )
- acute accents ( á )
- umlauts ( ü )
- tildes ( ñ )
- cedillas ( ç )  

If deployment platform is MS Windows, then the non-English characters
are displayed fine.

The problem effects :

- text item contents (special non-English characters are not stored in the
database)
- labels / item prompts
- hints / tooltip help
- menus
- error / warning messages

Changes


The form (fmb) may have been created on a MS Windows platform and ported /
migrated to a Unix platform (e.g Solaris , HP , Linux , AIX )
