Error "LDAP: error code 8" When Connecting to Active Directory (AD) (Doc ID 2391811.1)

Symptoms

LDAP connection to Microsoft (MS) Active Directory (AD) results in the error "LDAP: error code 8" with the extended comment "The server requires binds to turn on integrity checking if SSL\TLS are not already active on the connection", e.g.:

[LDAP: error code 8 - 00002028: LdapErr: DSID-0C090256, comment: The server requires binds to turn on integrity checking if SSL\TLS are not already active on the connection, data 0, v3839^@]

Changes

This can occur when implementing new connections to Active Directory, and after Active Directory Domain/Forest level configuration changes.
