OVD 11g Adapter Does Not Recover Following Network Failure; Searches Incorrectly Return Error 32, Not Found. (Doc ID 2392631.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Virtual Directory - Version 11.1.1.9.0 to 11.1.1.9.0 [Release 11g]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
1. Affects Adapters with only one host defined.
2. Following a network failure an OVD Adapter does not recover after connectivity is restored.

Symptoms

If a network failure breaks communication between Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD) 11g and the backend directory of an adapter, the adapter does not recover even after communication is restored. The adapters is never marked as active again.

Searches against OVD may timeout, or incorrectly return LDAP Error 32, "Not Found".  The same searches made directly against the backed directory correctly return results.

Changes

A backend directory was temporarily unreachable due to network failure. Communication was later restored, but the associated adapter did not resume working.
