Seeing MDS-01161 Errors in WebCenter Portal Logs When Accessing a Portal Page in WebCenter Portal (Doc ID 2400682.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to access a Portal Page in WebCenter Portal, the following error is shown in the log files.

ERROR

[INCIDENT_ERROR] [WCS-18013] [oracle.webcenter.people.internal.view.utils.MDSUtils] [tid: [ACTIVE].ExecuteThread: '18' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [userId: <USERID>] [ecid: <ECID>] [APP: webcenter#11.1.1.4.0] The reference to the specified metadata is invalid.[[
oracle.mds.naming.InvalidReferenceException: MDS-01161: Reference "/oracle/webcenter/people/scopedMD/https://server:port/webcenter/spaces/<PORTAL-NAME>/PeopleServicePreference.xml" has an invalid character "/".

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Connect to WebCenter Portal.

  2. Navigate to the page in the portal.
    Here you will see the error in the Spaces diagnostic log file.
