Limitations of Vanity URLs Redirects? (Doc ID 2405731.1)

Goal

When using WebCenter Sites for an enterprise portal and the content authors for one of the sites are setting up redirects by having multiple Vanity URLs for an asset, and having that Vanity URL configured as a HTTP 301 Redirect in WebCenter Sites for another URL:  

  1. To what extent is this safe?
  2. What are the limitations?
  3. Up to what number of Vanity URL-based redirects is it safe to have configured for an asset?  In an asset with 500 Vanity URLs, for example, out of which 499 are used for redirects, how does this affect WebCenter Sites?
