Symptoms

Unaccounted heap consumption on storage nodes

Coherence cluster with 24 x 32 GB storage nodes. Backup is using flashjournal on SSD.

Coherence reports show total primary data size of 130 GB, roughly 5.42 GB per JVM.

But reported available memory is around 20 GB per node / 10 GB of tenured space used.

So 4+ GB unaccounted for.

Where is the delta coming from?

Ran gc multple times and this level of occupancy sticks.

JVM has the following settings as reported by jmap;

JVM version is 25.151-b12

Using parallel threads in the new generation.
Using thread-local object allocation.
Concurrent Mark-Sweep GC
