ORDS Standalone Does not Return the Intermediate Certificate for External Website (Doc ID 2414588.1)

Last updated on JUNE 28, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle REST Data Services - Version 3.0.6 and later
Oracle Database Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

We have a domain (domain.example.com), and have an SSL certificate that has been deployed in standalone ORDS according to:
https://blogs.oracle.com/dbaas/installing-a-trusted-ssl-certificate-on-oracle-database-cloud-service-for-apex

When testing the SSL certificate through a tools like the following:
https://decoder.link/sslchecker/
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/

These tools return an error similar to the following:
The chain doesn't contain any intermediate certificates" error in our SSL certificate.

This does not necessarily impact browser requests, since common intermediate certificates and root certificates are included in the browser itself.

Changes

An SSL certificate has been implemented within ORDS. This may be within a local installation or a Database Cloud Service (DBCS / DBaaS) installation.
