Purpose

This document provides useful information on how to debug and resolve dependency errors which are encountered when patching Exalogic Physical Compute Nodes or Guest vServers.

Scope

Information in this MOS Note can be used for debugging dependency errors encountered during Patching in Exalogic.

 Logs Collection For Debugging Dependency Errors
 SEQUENCE OF STEPS FOR RESOLVING DEPENDENCY ERRORS
 Step 1: Run prepatch checks on the Guest vServer/Linux Physical Compute Node
 Step 2: Identify the Package which is having dependency errors
 Step 3: For Packages Causing the dependency errors, download the version of those packages from Public yum which matches version of underlying package version which is causing dependency errors.
 Step 4: Rebuild the Custom Repo using the downloaded Packages
 Step 5: Rerun PrePatchChecks again on the Guest vServer/Compute Node and check if the dependency issues are resolved.
