Symptoms
SQL*plus in Oracle 12.1.0.2 fails to start on Solaris SPARC 64bit machines with core dump message.

Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
The issue occurs specific to RAC services if "AQ HA Notifications" is enabled (set as "True") for the service created using SRVCTL command. Sample RAC service created would be like below.
