Purpose

During the authentication process using Oracle9iAS Release 2 version 9.0.2 Single Sign-On (SSO) server or using JAZN the user password is verified in Oracle Internet Directory (OID) and the group memberships of the user are determined. If the user is member of a large group or groups (with many thousands of members) the login time can be significant and increases as the number of members of the group increases.

OID has some inefficiencies that affect this problem and there is one JAZN specific issue which are listed here.

While all of these issues affect version 9.0.2, some also affect OracleAS 10g version 9.0.4.0 and version 10.1.2. All the patches listed here are present in the version 9.0.4.1 patchset and version 10.1.2.0.

Groups with many thousands of members can also impact add and delete uniquemember operations significantly.
