Oracle Internet Directory (OID 12c) Database Connections Fail with OID Server Log Error: gslarocpaOciPing: gslduufOCIPing * ORA-3114 error encountered. Error = ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE (Doc ID 2443148.1)

Last updated on MARCH 06, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory (OID) database repository resides on RAC database and there is a networking device (Load balance server, e.g., F5) between OID server and backed RAC database.

The networking device in the middle is dropping database connections from OID to the database, causing random failures and errors with OID (e.g., fail to retrieve BaseDN, constraint violated, etc).

The following messages are reported in the OID ldap server log files:

[2018-08-24T11:03:25.997721-03:00] [OID] [NOTIFICATION:16] [] [OIDLDAPD] [host: <OID_HOSTNAME>] [pid: <PID>] [tid: <TID>] gslarocpaOciPing: gslarutcPostPerfOCIping * OCIPing() failed.
