Applies to:

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The purpose of this Note is to give an explanation of error codes that are given when errors occur in SSL connections.

An example of what one could find in log files is:

SSL call to NZ function nzos_Handshake failed with error 28864
SSL call to NZ function nzos_Handshake failed with error 28862
SSL call to NZ function nzos_Handshake failed with error 28874

This note should assist administrators of the Application Server and support personnel in resolving SSL errors.

Note: The steps recommended in the "Action:" sections are not meaningful for mod_ossl / Apache-ssl problems. Apache users should increase the LogLevel in httpd.conf to debug.
