Disk Going Read-only On One Machine Causes Entire Cluster To Fail (Doc ID 2450285.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 20, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Coherence - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Our HP server deemed that it's raid controller had failed and put the disk into read-only mode.

This caused the coherence cluster to fail locally - which is not unexpected, since we use persistence and federation journaling, but also remotely on all the other machines in the cluster too. This is unexpected.  Surely it should not be the case that the problem is exported from one machine to all the others?  This becomes a single point of failure.
