Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Studio 12.2.1.3, a mapping has been configured which makes use of the "File" technology and associated driver.

After the mapping was executed, it was observed that special characters (such as °) were not loaded properly to the target.  In the case of the degree sign (°), it was loaded as period instead (.).

Steps which can be used to reproduce

  1. Create a mapping in ODI Studio which makes used of a Fixed-format file with attribute datatypes set to "Fixed Ebcdic".
  2. Ensure that the source datastore for the mapping contains some data with special characters (such as °).
  3. Execute the mapping and observe that it will complete successfully.
  4. View the data for the target datastore and notice that lines containing special characters in the source datastore are inserted into the target, but the special characters are not loaded properly.
