Unable to login to BPM after upgrading JDK due to SSL error (SSLHandshakeException) (Doc ID 2455750.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to log into the Workspace or other BPM applications, login fails. The following error is seen in the logs:

 

Changes

The issue started occurring after upgrading to a later JDK (such as 1.8.0_172).
