Some Messages That Contained Non-ascii Characters Started To Generate Latin A Character (Doc ID 2461771.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 11, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle SOA Suite - Version 11.1.1.7.8 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After the patch that implemented b2b.removeNonPrintableChars, it was noticed that some messages that contained certain extended ascii characters started to generate Latin A characters. For example, if vitals were sent across with the degree sign° it would have a Latin A before it in the payload message. Expected: ° Actual À°

It appears that at some point before the packed message is generated something is encoding/decoding with a mix of utf-8 and windows-1252.
