Linux Processes on ODI Agent Servers Increase Until the OS Encounters Fork Errors (Doc ID 2467691.1)

Last updated on JUNE 16, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Data Integrator - Version 11.1.1.7.0 to 12.2.1.2.0 [Release 11gR1 to 12c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When running Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.1.3 with a J2EE agent on a WebLogic server  configured to "load balance" to standalone agents, it is noticed that when starting the standalone agents - and without executing any ODI sessions - the Linux process count on the servers starts slowly and steadily increasing. This continues to increase without bound until it reaches the operating system nproc limit and operating system fork errors occur. When the ODI standalone agents are shut down, the process count on the servers drop immediately back to a normal level.
