Goal

Oracle Coherence product support delivers interim (pre-release) patch before its GA release for a given version. For an example, to the coherence version 12.2.1.3.0 interim patch coherence-java-12.2.1.3.2b72750-Int.zip get delivered to a customer in an SR to fix a bug that created or reported from that SR. The interim build is not an Opatch build but it is a zip archive. This document explains how to install the interim manually. Note that Oracle Coherence development does not release one-off fix for a given bug instead fix will be available part of the interim patch, that has fixes for the bugs fixed since the last patch GA released.

Note: Coherence development/product management confirmed that the patches namely, interim-release/pre-release, are fully supported in the production and safe to install, and safe to distribute the coherence.jar or other jars are needed to the applications. Coherence patches [GA release, interim-release/pre-release] are cumulative on a straight line of fixed bugs since a specific version released. Therefore, customer is safe to be on a given patch build as long as customer is good and not required to absorb the latest patch build available for that version.
